Finally, after what seems an age, Alex Parks is finally ready to release her new single and album. During her time away from the limelight Alex has tweaked her sound a little, with the new single, Looking for Water, having a more polished, studio sound, compared to her earlier album, Introduction, which has a more raw and earthier sound.

Alex will also be heading on a mini tour, no doubt to showcase her new album and to show off her new hairstyle.

Alex Parks is currently working on her follow up album to 2003's Introduction and it is expected to be released in the next few months.

Currently the name of the new Alex Parks album is unkown, but it's rumoured that the first single to be released from this album will be titled 'Get Out' and that her record label Polydor, are trying to schedule a summer release for this single.

Alex Parks has become the winning student of of BBC's Fame Academy!!

A tense final show saw over 4.5 million votes cast by the public as Alex, Alistair and Carolynne fought it out to be crowned King of the Academy.

The first round of public voting cast Alex and Alistair as the nation's favourite students, forcing Carolynne to concede defeat and bow out gracefully.

This left Alex, the Queen of angst, and Alistair, the joker of the Academy to sing it out for the nations affections. The duo performed duets with Daniel Beddingfield, as well as performing their own songs, before finishing with a duet of the Beatles "Let It Be".

Fame Academy presenter Patrick Keilty, then dramatically announced that the phone lines where closed, the public votes had been counted and that Alex Parks was the winner of Fame Academy.

Alex wins a million pound recording contract, and the use of a luxury London flat and a top of the range car for a year.

Alex Parks has survived for another week in the Fame Academy. Her rendition of Blondie's Heart of Glass was critisised by the teachers at the Academy and Alex herself had voiced concerns over the choice of song she had to perform.

Needless to say, the public still appreciated Alex's efforts and voted for her to stay in the Fame Academy. Heres what the teachers had to say about Alex Parks performance on Saturday.

“It was a hard song to do. It sounded like you were having a problem with it. It wasn't your best performance.” - Robin Gibb

“Alex has really struggled with this song, probably more than any other song that she's had to perform on the series.” - Carrie Grant

“Could you do that again for me because I can't decide if that was very good or very poor. It was a little bit pastiche. Not sure it worked.” - Richard Park

“For me, Alex has been setting standards at the show and that wasn't a great day at the office. I hope that people give her the chance to come back and do [it] the way she normally does.” - David Grant
